  • Review pinch pots: one with carving and one with additive details

      • Look for 3 handled cups that you find interesting in design and document them for next class.

  • Begin PROJECT #1 Cups that relate
    • After Demonstration or watching video here Construct 2 cylinders
    • Review Terms and Processes
      • Quiz #3 open
    • Sketches of two handled cups and 3 reference images
    • What will these objects be used for?
      • HOMEWORK:
        • Submit link to your Eport to Moodle by Friday September 6th at 5pm. Your Eport should meet these requirements.

WEEK 3

  • Review art and design terms
  • Start project #2
    • Homework:
    • Pottery Research.
  • Everybody is to research one of the below assigned pottery movements. You will each present briefly in class on Monday September 23rd and create a blog post on your Eport that goes with it.
  • Make sure to have:
    • the dates they were active
    • have 2-3 images of ceramic work from then
    • 3 key points of interest regarding the pottery
    • your observations on the work using the Art & Design Terminology

  • load bisque of cups, pinch pots, and stamps.

WEEK 5

  • Work on Project #3
  • Review bisqued cups and stamps
    • HOMEWORK:
      • Look at project #4 and sketch out ideas using stamps from project #2
      • Proposed Potters in Moodle Forum. FIRST TO POST GETS THE MAKER!!!

  • Review Potters submitted on Moodle
  • Review Project #3: critique
  • Start Project #4

WEEK 6

  • discuss firing terminology from Vocabulary & Technical Terms

2nd

  • Group REVIEWS OF POTTERY Movements: in groups of 3 during class time. Consider the below questions and document them on your present blog post.
    • What were similarities in the works produced?
    • Did/could geographic areas they were created in make a difference in the influence between cultures? 
    • How did/could the production periods influence each other?
    • What was the timeline for each period?
  • review Potter proposals

WEEK 7

    • Schedule:
      • Load Kiln Sunday October 20th
      • Fire Monday October 21
      • Cool Tuesday October 22
      • Unload Wednesday October 23
  • Review Final Project Proposals
  • review final set requirements and deadlines for firings

  • Unload Glaze kiln
  • Work on Final Project

WEEK 11

November

4th

  • Presentations
  • LAST CLASS to use wet clay.
    • There will be no clay for making forms after this class. If you are still building forms at this point your work will not make the final glaze kiln loading on NOVEMBER 17th.

6th

  • Glazing bisque work
  • LAST BISQUE KILN loaded
    • If work is not bone dry at this point it will not be bisque fired.

WEEK 12

November

11th -VETERANS DAY-NO CLASS

13th

  • Glaze final Projects
  • All work must be bisque to make the last Glaze fire to be loaded on SUNDAY NOVEMBER 17TH.

WEEK 13

November

18th

  • Cone 10 glaze will be firing
  • Schedule:
    • Load Kiln Sunday November 17th
    • Fire Monday 18th
    • Cool Tuesday 19th
    • Unload Wednesday 20th

20th

  • Unload Glaze kiln and clean
  • Review results
  • Clean up works if needed

WEEK 14

November

25th  

  • assign who will bring what food for final
  • Review Eports
  • preliminary studio cleanup
